The whole make-up movement is getting out of hand. I mean, I really have no problems with make-up in general. Have a hot anniversary date and you want to look extra special? Okay, cool a little bit of make-up may do the trick. Feeling a little down and you need a pick-me-up? Make-up is sometimes cheaper than therapy so okay cool.
But we are getting to a point where we wear globs and globs of it each and every day. Some women even sleep in it because they don’t want their partners to know how they really look. WTH? THAT is problematic.
I’m not going to go into depths about the psychological issues attached to applying goo-gobs of make-up everyday. Nope, not going to address how F^&*% up that is right now.
Let’s talk about the health of it.
When we feel the need to apply foundation and cover-ups, we’re usually trying to well…cover something up. But the skin is an organ. In fact, it’s a detox organ, much like our kidneys and liver. When our bodies are ill, our skin lets us know by doing things like becoming discolored, or dry, or acne-prone. But when we try to ignore what our skin is telling us by covering it up, we’re doing ourselves a great disservice. We’re doing ourselves a disservice that could even be deadly.
So listen to your skin. Figure out what it’s trying to tell you. Don’t try to shut it up. It’s working hard to keep you alive.
